We recently discovered this Aussie group just a few short weeks ago. With a fusion of raggae, pop, psych and bourbon, they're a refreshing new sound that can be alikened to Pink Floyd and Arctic Monkeys. The band consists of five members who released their first album Caress your Soul in 2013 and immediately sold out their album tour. They have released their second album Land of Pleasure and we can safely say that it is Amazing! It's so good in fact that a couple days later we went to see them play in London at the Garage. The venue was sold out and they were incredible live. Here's a little taste of their music in "How to Fly."

CAGE THE ELEPHANT
Since I’ve stumbled across
Cage the Elephant, an American rock band, I have been really liking their music
and in particular their ‘Melophobia’ album. I first heard ‘come a little
closer’ from the band and after really liking the song, I researched more on the
band and in turn found out their ‘ Melophobia’ album. The album is catchy and
just overall and a really good album. Apparently on this album the band was
challenged with ‘finding cohesiveness in the ideas
of five different people’ and in my opinion this worked in their favor because
the album is amazing. The lyrics are meaningful and relatable which allow the
audience to form a connection with the album on a personal level. And when
paired with amazing melodies, it makes the perfect recipe for a successful
album. So overall I’ve been really liking Cage the Elephant and I would
definitely recommend listening to their music.

THE WEEKND
Recently after finding one
of his songs 'high for this' I became fascinated with the weeknd’s music. Abel
Tesfaye, or more commonly known as The Weeknd, is an artist from Canada, who produces
music of the genre PBR&B,
also referred to as hipster R&B and alternative R&B. His music is
not necessarily what I would usually go for but he has
a distinctive and diverse voice and when paired with his tunes
and lyrics produces an amazing sound. His voice is very soft and
soothing and so creates juxtaposition with his lyrics, which is
quite harsh otherwise. I find him similar to Frank Ocean, whose
music I also find exceptional, in the way that despite your music taste I feel
like their music is universally pleasing to a majority of people.

MATT CORBY
An artist I've
recently been loving is Matt Corby the stunning Aussie, aged 23, who has
managed to win over many hearts with his looks and compelling voice. His music
generally is described by being of an indie, folk and blues genre which I would
say is pretty accurate, although I can identify some hints of rock within his
music as well. Corby was recommended to me by a friend and at first I was
skeptical, but ironically I fell in love with his music. Matt actually started
his music career at the age of 16 when he participated in the TV talent
show Australian idol where he was the runner up of the season. I find him
hard to compare to any other musicians because he possesses a highly unique
voice and his music is also very individual, which helps set him apart from
existing musicians.
