I stumbled across Jake Bugg a year and a half ago on YouTube
and I’m really glad I did. The 19 year old folk rock musician from Nottingham
has a voice that sounds like somebody way beyond his years. His voice is a nice
change to the so called teenage “musicians” out there today whose best friend
seems to be auto tune.
Although countless people have referred to him as a modern Bob Dylan-which in itself is a huge compliment, - he says he’s never really been a
big influence unlike Donovan or Johnny Cash. Although he hasn’t reached the
stardom of other artists yet, I truly believe you should follow his journey in
doing so as I’m sure that he will eventually be a big name in the music
industry. “Lightning Bolt”, “Seen it All” and “Two Fingers” are his most
recognised songs from his self-titled album. However where Bugg really outdoes
himself is in the simple melancholy “Broken” or “Simple as this”, where all
that accompanies his voice is his acoustic guitar. It’s in these songs where
Jake Buggs unique voice can truly portray his self written sharp lyrics and makes
you realise just how truly talented this
guy is. Not only has he got a great voice, but he’s also got great guitar
skills which he makes sure to show off in some of his faster tracks like “Lightning
Bolt”. I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of Jake Bugg in the future, as slowly
but surely he becomes one of the most notable musicians out there.
